Clapet valves The clapet valve has the function of allowing the flow of water coming from a channel towards the river, while preventing the back-flow of the water of rivers in a flood, towards the channel. This function is ensured by the opening of a pad actuated by the thrust of the water coming from the channel. A special balance weight is fitted on top of the clapet valve to aid the valve opening also in case of a low water head. The clapet valve is fixed to the channel walls by chemical blocks and the channel walls contacting the clapet valve frame must be finished so as to not exhibit any projecting bumps that would impair the valve hydraulic seal.
